Snowy Sunday

Posted by Marta

Ahhhhh. Another Sunday has slipped by. We had a great day. It snowed like crazy on Saturday. After spending the day inside on Saturday and then shoveling out on Saturday evening, we were ready to get out of the house on Sunday.

We started out by heading to our favorite local coffee shop first thing. We headed for a table in the back with our coffees, muffins and newspaper and settled in for a while. It was so relaxing and comfortable and of course delicious. I do love their muffins! We bought some bread to use for dinner too.

Saturday Night and Sunday Morning

Posted by Marta

Well I spoke to my friend abroad last night. It was of course already early morning for her, and she was getting ready to leave for work. She said that she went to bed really early on Saturday night – 8:15!!! Yikes. And now it was bright and early the next morning for her. She was ready for her week to begin. I of course was winding down my evening with no thought to preparing for the next day. I was in the midst of my weekend, Saturday night easing into Sunday morning. It really struck me that not only does my friend miss out on the greatest of inventions – Sundays – but also Saturday nights.  So, with a nod to my friend I went to bed, with thoughts of the Sunday ahead.

A Rainy Sunday With Chinese Food

Posted by Marta

Well, this past Sunday was not nearly as nice as the last with all of the wedding festivities, but still it was a refreshing break from the routine of work and school. I chatted with my overseas friend who lives without Sundays recently; of course we could not talk on a Sunday as she was at work … I cannot imagine!

Sunday in the Market With Marta

Posted by Marta

Well, things do change once the kids are in school. Only one week in and everyone is exhausted by the weekend. Saturday everyone slept. And slept. And slept. They had a very slow start. They sorted themselves out, did their homework and by Sunday, we were all geared up to do something. Read the rest of this entry »

Full of Birthday Cake and Joy

Posted by Marta

Well, our family birthday Sunday was a fun filled day for all. It was a lovely drive. We left early enough that there was hardly any traffic. We drove through the beautiful countryside. Even though things were pretty dry it was still calming and peaceful; the few towns we drove through were quiet on a Sunday morning.

Birthday Cake Sunday

Posted by Marta

Rise and shine, its another Sunday morning. Thought it best to write early today since we are off for the day in a few minutes. Off to drive several hours and visit relatives who live in the Southern part of the State.

It is the season of several family birthdays and it is our cousins’ turn to host the event. It is always a festive noisy gathering with three generations of family gabbing, playing, running around and of course eating. There are birthdays spanning the generations and a cake for each. Different cakes even for each person celebrating their birthday. Read the rest of this entry »

Lazy Sunday

Posted by Marta

Ah…what a lazy Sunday we have had. This past Sunday it rained and rained. It was beautiful. We stayed inside all day. I woke up at my usual time and took a peek out the window. When I saw just how gray it was I turned over and curled up and went back to bed. It was just so cozy.

Saturday Night’s Alright For Ice Cream

Posted by Marta

And Saturday night, not a worry about staying up late. We had a late start and didn’t get out the door until 8:45. We all packed in the car and met our cousins in the city. They were here for a visit and we wanted to show them around. It had really cooled off so it was pleasant to walk around and check out the action.

I Do Like Sundays

Posted by Marta

Ah yes, I take them for granted. Don’t even think twice about it. Don’t even give it a second’s thought. Sundays. And their partner, Saturday night. A friend of mine recently moved abroad to a place where Sundays are just like Mondays and Tuesdays and Wednesdays. No different, just a work day or school day or camp day. She tells me up and down that once you are in the midst of a Sunday such as this, that it is no big deal. It doesn’t feel strange, and she doesn’t feel short-changed. I don’t believe her for a second. Read the rest of this entry »
