Snowy Sunday
Ahhhhh. Another Sunday has slipped by. We had a great day. It snowed like crazy on Saturday. After spending the day inside on Saturday and then shoveling out on Saturday evening, we were ready to get out of the house on Sunday.
We started out by heading to our favorite local coffee shop first thing. We headed for a table in the back with our coffees, muffins and newspaper and settled in for a while. It was so relaxing and comfortable and of course delicious. I do love their muffins! We bought some bread to use for dinner too.
After that we headed over to the mall to take care of a few things. It was quiet there, and we were able to cross a few things off our list painlessly and quickly. This left us with a big chunk of time to spend at the bookstore. We were able to browse the bookshelves and curl up in cozy chairs and read for a while. We didn’t buy anything, but we added a lot of books to our library list. Our library system is so good that we should be able to read these books very soon.
Eventually we dragged ourselves out of there and headed home. The kids piled on their snow gear and grabbed their sleds and headed for the nearby hill. I made hot chocolate and put up a big pot of soup. By the time the kids headed in all rosy-cheeked and covered in snow, the cocoa was ready. I could just feel the cold air as I helped them off with their layers. After hanging all of the jackets, hats and mittens to dry I was ready for some hot chocolate too.
The rest of the afternoon was spent finishing school projects and hanging out. The soup came out great. It was a new recipe and was enjoyed by all. Always nice to have another one to add to the rotation.
After such a nice satisfying and enjoyable day it was a pleasure to curl up in bed to read and hit the hay.
